Quality of life

Important - I have not dwelt on precisely how to achieve a better quality of life (assuming there are sufficient 'intelligent' people interested) because I see it as just another logistic/scientific/technical problem. Moreover I believe that several other individuals and groups have already worked that out, in great depth. Two of them that I'm aware of are Jacque Fresco and Technocracy Inc.

An attempt to define a better quality of life :

The attempt would be to overcome present inadequacies in the scheme of things in society. For example:

The biggest direct impact should be the efficiency with which we earn. We should be earning more for lesser efforts. To give a vague example we could have a 2 day working week rather than the current 5 day working week. We in the developed world, have material goods in surplus yet the benifits of surplus do not completely manifest due to our skewed economic policies. There is also a lot of time and efforts 'wasted' in
- Marketing goods.
- Making a variety models/versions of the same goods when often we can do with a far fewer number of models. example cars.
- Excesses of entertainment/recreation. While entertainment is certainly an important part of quality of life and a lack of it causes misery. More doesn't necessarily mean better. The benifits of entertainment/recreation to one's well being level of after a certain limit. (example of excesses: several news channels, several more TV shows, several movies, more and frequent travel.)
If people could collectively forgo a substantial amount of the above mentioned activities people would have much more time/money at hand.

If you earning a living from a setup through this initiative other possible benefits are:

You needn’t think about job hopping.

You needn’t worry about layoffs.

Commute time to work could be reduced. One could live near one's workplace.
Elimination of 'Dilbert' style of management.

The long term major benefits as far as quality of life is concerned would come from research - specifically medical research. (more time and efforts can be channalized in research when more time is made availabe)This will include persistent yet non-harmful mood enhancements, never growing old, extraordinary health, extraordinary 'intelligence', power etc. In short a 'super' man. (if you further think on this subject you will arrive at an entity that resembles a 'borg' - a collection of very closely co-operating entities which are unlike the individuals that we are currently aware of - that is topic for another discussion and irrelevent at the moment)

Other potential benefits include:

Able to do tasks that are otherwise impossible/difficult if done individually.
Means to workaround govt. regulations
Possible lowering of rents/mortgages by collective purchase/rent of property.<< work out an example well>>
Good quality food may be available cheaply without the need to search extensively. ( For example I find a lot of time scanning through labels in the food market- further I’m not sure of the authencity of the information that I see.)
You may get good medical advise/care ( for example people in the organization can be trained informally in basic medicine. I would speculate that are a fair number of folks out there who are more intelligent that an average physician)
This might also serve as a way to increase support and funding for life extension activities.
